Life is complicated. You’ve got a job to go to, friends to keep up with, hobbies you barely have time for, and suddenly you find yourself in a bit of a rut. Sound familiar? It happens to everyone at some point, and that’s okay. How you deal with this situation is what matters the most.

In this post we’re talking about 6 ways you can improve your mental and physical health in order to feel your best self, 24/7.

1) Look within

Feeling your best means something different to everyone. Maybe you feel your strongest and most confident with your friends by your side. Or perhaps you need to work out to feel energized, uplifted, and bold. Or maybe you haven’t found that thing that really fuels your fire just yet.

Whether or not you have a solid perspective on who you are, what you love, and how you go about your day to day, it’s important to take a moment to really take a look inside if you want to improve your health and happiness.

Here are a few ways you can get back in touch with you:

Talk to someone

Whether you seek the help of a professional therapist or consult in a friend, sometimes the best way to be honest with yourself is to be vulnerable with someone else.

Analyze your energy

If you want to gain perspective on your energy and connection to those around you, you may want to look for an aura camera for sale. Aura cameras essentially capture how you express your energy in the world around you and can give insight on your thoughts, abilities, and emotions.

Journal

Another way to get to know yourself better is through writing. It doesn’t matter what you write: poems, daily journal entries, random thoughts, jokes, etc. All that matters is that you’re able to express yourself through words.

2) Get outside

Sunshine is scientifically proven to boost your mood, improve focus, and foster mental clarity, all thanks to a release of serotonin your brain experiences upon exposure to sunlight. Low levels of serotonin can correlate with symptoms of depression or seasonal affective disorder. The best way to cure a lack of vitamin D? Get yourself some outdoor gear and get outside! Hike, bike, swim, climb, run, walk, or relax. Whatever it takes to get a little sun on your skin, make a point to do it.

3) Eat your veggies

It’s no secret that unhealthy foods tend to translate to unhealthy feelings. But what foods should you be eating if you want to improve your mood and physical health?

  • Omega-3 fatty acids

  • Probiotics

  • Whole grains

  • Leafy greens

  • Salmon

  • Berries

  • Almonds

4) Find a creative outlet

Oftentimes when we find ourselves feeling stuck, we’re in the midst of a steady routine without much to disrupt the day to day. More often than not, you’re in a cycle of work and to-do’s and don’t have much time to express your thoughts and feelings. Finding a creative hobby can give you a platform to try something new or even learn something about yourself!

Not sure what your creative medium is? Here are a few options to consider:

  • Ceramics

  • Painting

  • Pottery

  • Floral design

  • Spoken word

  • Song writing

  • Dance

  • Theater

5) Get your fitness on

Just like sunshine initiates a release of serotonin in the body, exercise also triggers a neurological response that can translate to many physical and mental health benefits. When you work out, your brain releases a protein called BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) and chemicals called endorphins. These responses combat stress, reduce pain, and even cause feelings of euphoria.

Sure, starting out on an exercise plan can be a challenge for anyone, but it’s hardest when you’ve been off track for a long period of time. But, here’s the good news: you gain the most “happiness benefits” when you’re first starting out and you don’t have to do an excessive amount to feel the effects.

6) Be social

Humans are social creatures. Being around other people gives us a sense of community, belonging, safety, and of course a good laugh. Make an effort to see family and friends regularly and do your best to keep in touch by texting, calling, and the occasional social media browsing during times you have apart.

Mental and physical health are SO important to personal growth, fulfillment, and overall happiness. Use these tips to awaken your best self right now.
