After all, dentists are professionals, and they had given years of study for the improvement of their patients’ oral health. 

If, unfortunately, you're not lucky enough to have enough budget when it comes to taking care of your oral health, there are still a ton of ways you can take good care of your teeth on a budget, as listed below:  

Brush Your Teeth Regularly 

Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth regularly, two times a day, for two minutes. Brush your teeth thoroughly after eating to remove any remaining food particles or prevent any plaque buildup from keeping your teeth clean. You must remove any plaque buildup on your teeth as ignoring it could lead to gum disease and tartar, resulting in a costly dental treatment. When it comes to taking care of your oral health, prevention is better than cure mainly because dental treatments are expensive. 

Floss Daily 

One of the things people neglect the most is flossing daily. Some people find it unimportant and time-consuming, but dentists recommend that you floss daily to remove any plaque that you can't get rid of with regular brushing. After brushing at night, follow up with a good floss to remove the plaque buildup that can lead to tartar. 

To floss your teeth effectively, try to be gentle as intense flossing can lead to bleeding which could lead to gingivitis. 

Use Fluoride Toothpaste 

When it comes to brushing your teeth, dentists highly recommend that you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste. 

Fluoride is an active ingredient in your toothpaste that helps prevent tooth decay and strengthens your teeth and gums. Fluoride toothpaste is commonly found in the market and isn't expensive, so you could easily add it to your oral health routine. 

Limit Specific Food Intake 

Two of the things you need to limit eating to keep your teeth healthy are sugary and acidic food. Food high in sugar is the number one cause of cavities, most especially when consumed without a glass full of water. Sugary food also converts into acids in your mouth, which can cause tooth decay. The acids also ruin the quality of your teeth, leaving stains on your teeth. This can happen in the consumption of beverages such as coffee, tea, and wine. 

It's best to limit consuming these types of food and beverages and keep a healthy diet to improve your oral and overall health. When you consume them, follow them up with a cup of water, and brush your teeth after. 

Change Your Brush Regularly 

Brushes don't cost too much, and they cost less compared with a visit to the dentist. Dentists recommend that you change your toothbrush every three months so that the bristles can do their job of successfully removing any particles and food stains around your teeth. 

However, if you see your toothbrush being in an awful condition before three months of use, don't wait it out. Change your toothbrush as soon as possible. You should always allow your toothbrush to perform at its best for your oral health. 

Quit Smoking 

The number one thing you could do to improve your oral and overall health is to quit smoking

Smoking can make your teeth turn yellow and cause bad breath even with a hundred brushings. Not only can smoking make your teeth awful, but smokers are at higher risk for getting oral cancer and gum disease. 

You can look for resources on the Internet that could help you quit smoking as it can be immensely challenging the first time you do it.
