First things first, you've got to get that new caravan registered. Just head over to the Department of Transport and Main Roads website or visit your local transport and motoring customer service centre. They'll walk you through the whole process.
- Check Your Coupling
Before you hitch up and hit the road, make sure your coupling is secure and your brake lights are working properly. It's not just about following the law, it's about keeping everyone safe on the road. Remember, if your lights aren't working, the drivers behind you won't know when you're braking or turning - and that can lead to some pretty scary situations.
- Know the Towing Rules
In Queensland, there are specific rules about towing caravans. For instance, the total length of your vehicle and caravan combined can't be more than 19m. And the width can't be more than 2.5m. You can find more information on the Queensland Government's website.
